From 3. - 5. September 2008 a conference with the german title: "Die Böden der Küste und deren Genese im Spannungsfeld von Landnutzung und Klimawandel" took place at the University of Oldenburg and  was hosted by Kommission V of the Deutsche Bodenkundliche Gesellschaft (DBG), the State Office for Mining, Energy and Geology (LBEG), the workgroup Soil Science at the Institute for Biology and the Institute for Environmental Sciences at the University Oldenburg.

The conference was mainly adressed to soil experts of the DBG and professionals working in coastal areas in the fields of soil and hydrology management, coast protection and argriculture. In this context nature-consult und the LBEG presented a project poster with the title: "Nutzung der aktuellen Vegetationskartierung der Ostfrisischen Inseln zur Erstellung von Bodenkarten (BK50)"
